​My experience with publishers

I’ve copy-edited or proofread a large number of non-fiction books (trade, specialist and academic) for Eclipse Publishing & Media, EMC Design, Integra, Pitch Publishing, Prestel, ​RefineCatch, Routledge / Taylor and Francis, Swales & Willis, The Stationery Office​ and Wearset. You can find a list of titles in the downloadable portfolio available on the About page.

I can:

• copy-edit in Word using Track Changes and commenting
• mark up proofs on a PDF file, using either Adobe Acrobat’s Comment functions or stamps for the BSI mark-up symbols
  
• perform developmental editing.

Training

My extensive editorial training includes:

• the Basic Proofreading and Copy-editing courses (as they were) run by the Publishing Training Centre (PTC)
• a number of courses run by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP, formerly the Society for Editors and Proofreaders – now I’m one of its tutors)
• the CIEP’s mentoring schemes for proofreading and copy-editing.
